Don’t Give To Me...

Don’t give to me those blood red blooms,

they bring with them a sense of doom.

Already plucked, draining of life,

I feel I’m stabbed -- so sharp the knife;

the color drains from lips, from face,

a sign of death brought to this place.

But still to me you hold them out,

I want to scream, I want to shout;

I have to take them, no excuse

for me to shake my head, refuse.

The thorns into my fingers stick,

drawing blood so red, so thick.

Petal-hued and omen-tide

you bring to me your deathly pride.
