David joins a summer training for coding. He meets a beautiful trainee to distract him and keep him grounded to the course, which is otherwise made mundane by his lack lustre teacher. When he sees
he's finally getting somewhere with Amelie, he decides to meet her alone. But was it really the right choice to make?

It is the summer of my short programming course. Dressed in a crisp white shirt and navy blue jeans, I trudge down the corridor to find my way to the first class of the training programme. The computer lab is simple, equipped with twenty moderately upgraded computers and accompanying desks and chairs. The walls are a precise white and there is only one big window at the farthest end of the room, the computer rows lined on both sides of it up to the door right opposite to the window at the other end of the room.

The teacher is a grumpy old man, apparently very learned like his description on the website screamed. I disliked him from the very moment I set foot in the lab, his judgmental eyes scanning me to my core, and finally that displeased look setting atop his spectacled eyes. I wish him a curt good morning, getting a forced nod in return, before I take my seat at computer number ‘5’.

Very much in contrast to my grumpy old teacher I’m doomed to cultivate from everyday for the next two months, in both appearance and disposition, is the strawberry blonde woman seated right opposite to me. She is the third thing I noticed upon entering the room, after the simple décor of the lab and the crabbiness of my mentor, and the only sight that pleased my eyes so far. I notice her simple olive top and beige shorts, revealing her slightly tanned legs, possibly from the days spent on a beach before joining this training. I also fail to miss her amply endowed bosom, no less attractive than her sharp featured face set with twinkling green eyes.

I catch her looking back at me, and I offer her my most attractive smile, at least in my head my face appears two notches up in the magnetism quotient the moment I don on that smile; when in reality it may very well be the perfect imitation of a goat forced to split its lips apart while posing for a meme. It pleases me to no less degree when I catch her returning that smile, definitely nothing short of very attractive, and I return to my computer. We are given a form to fill up on the computer itself, entering our personal information on the database to register the particular computer as solely ours for the duration of the training. The teacher explains it as a particular bond between the selected computer and us that is going to be a part of the intricate learning process, to know the particular computer inside out like it is your own child, and not just all about programming.

If you have ever attended a programming course, you’d know that the first code to be taught to any student is the simple ‘Hello, World!’ one on C++. It comprises of a short code, the teacher explains, containing most of the basic syntaxes of the C++ software, and hence is a very popular choice as the first example to be taught on the popular programming platform.

I type in the basic code:

#include <iostream>
int main()
{
std::cout << "Hello, World!";
return 0;
}

The output flashes immediately on the screen in front of me: ‘Hello, World!’. I look back at the woman upon finishing the task at hand and catch her staring back at me. We smile at each other, her smile tugging at the corner of her lips for a tad longer than necessary.

I turn around to look at my computer screen, still smiling like a fool, and am slightly taken aback at the result in front of me. Instead of the expected ‘Hello, World!’ that was displayed a bit back, I am greeted with a ‘Hello, David!’ in return. I look to my right, then to my left, both the computers showing the familiar ‘Hello, World!’ and then finally look back at her. She is still smiling when I catch her eyes, this time the smile slightly more brazen than the last times.

So, I am dealing with a pro here then. From what I gather, she doesn’t need to be at this training course if she already has this kind of skill at hacking. Perhaps she is one of those rare quirks who enjoy being at the top of their class by already knowing more than the teacher even before setting foot in the room.

The class ends after two straight hours. I flex my limbs and power down my computer before exiting the lab. I find her waiting outside, when I finally go up to her to say hi. Before I can introduce myself, she extends her hand out and says, “Hello, I’m Amelie.”

“And I’m guessing you already know my name?” I take her hand in mine, taking in the slender mass of pure softness and shake it firmly.

“Yeah, David right?” Her beam broadens.

“How?”, was all I could say.

“I signed the register after you had already filled in your name.”

“That was a nice stunt back there you pulled.”

Before she can answer me back, she is pulled away by another woman, similarly attractive and brunette. Amelie motions her to wait a second and extends her hand one more time before saying, “I’ll see you around then.”

I shake her hand again and watch her disappear round the corner, this time catching sight of her similarly well endowed behind.

My phone vibrates once before I take it out of my pocket and unlock it. There is a single text message popup on the screen. “Hello, David!”

It is an unknown number, but I have little doubt over who it is from. She has most likely breezed into my computer data and gotten hold of my number. I smile a little before replying, “Amelie?”

“Do you like this training course?”

Whatever answer back I was expecting, it certainly wasn’t as bland as this one. Over the past few days, we have met every day in class, and for a considerable amount of time afterwards. I had asked for her number once yesterday and she said that she would text me as soon as she got a new phone, her last one got stolen a few days back she explained. And today it seems she finally got hold of one.

Amelie is no amateur in the field, both where programming and dating are concerned. She has had her fair share of men in life, or so I could gather from talking to her. Her bold disposition and casual flirting, that extended on to light and sometimes quite sultry touching. She was equally adept with her words when it came to flirting. Not that I could expect any less from a woman so attractive. I have had my fair share of women, both in bed and outside and I have come to respect the perks of experience in the dating field. Things are smooth from day one on.

“Well, I wasn’t expecting THAT, though God alone knows what I was expecting. But yeah, I do enjoy the course. What about you?”

It took only a few seconds for her to reply back. “I enjoy you more ;)”

Ah. “Tell me more about what you enjoy?”

She’s a fast one at typing it seems. “I enjoy your company. And your clothes, or the lack of it maybe, you tell me?”

She likes to waste no time then. Good. Just my type. “I have a lot more to offer than just my clothes. Just wait till you find out.”

“I can’t wait.”

“What are you up to? We don’t have class today.”

“I’m organizing my data, classifying what’s needed and compartmentalizing what’s not. I work even when there’s no class.”

A hard worker, then. It will be my pleasure to find out if the same in bed or not. “You’re a hard worker, aren’t you? Tell me, why did you join this course? It seems you already know much more than needed.”

“Don’t be foolish David. I’m as much a part of this course as you are. I’m here to help the likes of you, of course.”

So she likes to gloat. Noted. “Ah, Your Highness bestowing kindness upon us peasants. Whatever great deeds we did from our past life to deserve the kindness of ye fair maiden?”

“You’re a flatterer, aren’t you David? Though a ‘maiden’ is the last thing I am.”

Of course. She’s probably only a maiden if it’s role play. “Won’t you pretend to be one for my sake?”

“You like that sort of thing?”

Role play? Heck yeah. “Do you?”

“I don’t have such preferences. Though I made a list of all yours. Would love to show it to you sometime.”

“Only if it’s the only thing you show up in. A list of all my preferences strapped on to your body. And nothing else. ;)”

“;)”

“How long till you finish your work?”

“Does work ever end, David? My mind is ever active.”

“Is it, now? I would love to be a part of that ever active world of yours. Does it feature special games for me? ;)”

There is a pause before her next reply comes. She is a fast typist and every other reply arrived within a few seconds. Bar this one. Though a negligible amount of time, it takes her several seconds to type out her next reply. And for some unexplained reason, a slight chill sets over my spine. I stare at the screen for a while when her next reply comes, unable to shake off the curious uncanny feeling. “Would you like to see my world, David?”

I force a grin on my face before typing. “Date. Time. Place.”

“02/05/2016. 11:59 PM. Computer Lab.”

I blink at the unusual reply. It is today’s date. The computer lab seems like an odd choice, but then she must have something in mind, probably a yet-to-live fantasy.

Before I can type out a reply, my phone vibrates again. “Don’t be a second late David. I’ll be expecting you, seated on my usual desktop. ;)”

Ah. She is a naughty one through and through. And I have no plans on keeping her waiting, except for the climax.

I arrive at the classroom door. It is slightly ajar. I don’t put much thought into how she got hold of the keys. She seemed the badass type from the very moment we met. I open the door further. It creaks slightly. The corridor was empty and dark as I was making my way to the computer lab. Being an already chilly night, the lack of lights only adds to the chilliness.

“Amelie?” I walk into the lab, letting my eyes adjust to the darkness.

No response.

I am well into the room when I notice a faint glow coming from a computer on a desk. My computer. I make my way to the computer number ‘5’. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I freeze. A déjà-vu feeling settles into my spine, bringing with it an uncomfortable stillness.

Written across the screen are the familiar words. ‘Hello, World!’

I do not know how to respond. I look to my sides and finally to my back, but find nothing that meets my gaze. I swallow a nagging knot at my throat and look back at the screen. My mouth goes dry. The words have changed, just like the other day. ‘Hello, David!’ was sprawled across the screen now, except there is no Amelie in sight as I find myself desperately hoping to see. Just like the other day when she pulled this stunt. But, did she? I back away from the computer, losing my footing and crashing on the floor.

“What… what do you want?” I demand at the screen, my voice barely a whisper.

The words change again. ‘Would you like to see my world, David?’

I break into cold sweat and attempt to get back on my feet. But I fail. I try to form coherent words. “No…” I can barely manage to whisper.

The words change again. ‘Welcome to my world, David!’

“Please…” I don’t know who… or what I’m begging to. But I still attempt.

The screen goes blank. I count the seconds, or is it my breaths that I count? I slowly get up on my feet and back away from the computer. I am about to leave when there is a burst of light from the computer screen.

The last thing I can recall are the words etched in black on the dazzling white of the computer screen. ‘Say hello to my world, David!’

And black.
