distractions

Once melodies drown my mind,

I sleep on my brow

and dream about progress.

But six months have passed,

then three,

and I still crave thoughts of others.

What does she doubt?

She cradles my fears

and tucks them into the letter box.

They rest with broken swatches

of other neurotic heroines.
