My Cherie Amour II

Manhattan, New York

Sarah looked over the table at Chaz. She couldn’t for the life of her, wonder why her father would not consent his blessing for the two to marry. Her boyfriend of three years, family is wealthy and prominent, and he is a partner in his father’s law firm.

“Baby, are you with me.”

“I’m sorry, what were you saying.”

“The waiter is addressing you.”

Sarah slid one foot out her stiletto, and rubbed the sole of her foot up Chaz’s leg.

“I prefer something that could keep me satisfied.”

“Pardon me Bellissimo.”

Sarah looked up as she retracted her foot. She quietly slipped her foot back into her stiletto.

“Yes, I would have the special on the day.”

She winked at Chaz.

“And you sir?”

“The same as the lady.”

The waiter looked at Chaz and then look at Sarah. He cleared his throat.

“Would you like a bottle of wine, sir?”

Chaz looked up.

“Yes, a vintage bottle Piedmont Barolo.”

“Very well sir.”

The waiter turned and walked away from the table.

“Sarah, I’m still hoping you can go away with me this weekend.”

“I’m sorry, I have a thesis I have to write.”

“Dammit Sarah, these plans were made far in advance.”

“I know, and I’m sorry.”

“A word, I continue to hear from you.”

“You can get Brad to go with you.”

“I prefer the company of my woman.”

“I will make it up to you.”

“A virgin’s word, how convincing.”

Someone palmed Chaz’s shoulder.

“I thought that was you.”

Chaz pivoted in his seat and looked up; he stood in haste.

“Kelly, my goodness it has been ages.”

Both embraced and then immediately spaced their presence.

“Sarah, this is….”

‘Kelly, yes the woman who you had a relationship in college,” Sarah stated sarcastically. “Chaz has told me such wondrous things about you.”

Kelly’s blue eyes hooked Chaz’s dark-brown eyes.

“I hope only the good things worth remembering.”

“If that’s what you want to call it.”

“Kelly, what are you doing in town?”

“I stopped through to check in on my parents, and then I’m heading to the Attorney’s Convention in Los Angeles.”

“Yes, I will be there as well.”

“Yes, I’m one of the keynote speakers.”

Kelly looked down at Sarah.

“Well, I guess, I’ll see you two there.”

“Unfortunately Sarah will not be joining me; she has to write a thesis for her Accounting class, she is studying for her Masters.”

“Thank goodness the days of college are so far behind me.”

“I concur.”

“Well, I will allow you both to enjoy your meal. Chaz, we must get together real soon; my mother has asked about you on numerous occasions.”

“Please give my regards to everyone.”

“I shall, nice meeting you Sarah.”

Kelly strolled away from their table.

Sarah glimpsed the lust in Chaz’s eyes, as Kelly walked away.

“The hotel is right down the street.”

Chaz cleared his throat, held his tie against his chest, and then sat.

“Did you know she was in town?”

“No, and why would I.”

“You two do have a history.”

“Where it shall remain.”
