Mother’s Day

Years have fallen on this window Pitter patter of unstoppable events The window holding clearly through the years A vista for all seasons passed: Springs of hope Summers hot and dry Autumns raking dreams And, as someone said, winters of discontent. For years I see you standing tall Chestnut tree, giving in the yard: Shade for those in need Chestnuts for the hungry Roots deeply grasping earth Branches reaching for the sky.
