Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

It was a dark and stormy night when the four girls made their way through the door to gather together at the front of the house. I say girls, but maybe the term ‘ghouls’ would be more appropriate.

There was Violette, a ghost from times past who had many scores to settle. Deanna was some kind of demon, skin red and raw, with an appetite to match. Amy was a zombie, unable to find any respite since being bitten and turned into an undead, undying entity. And then there was Mary; young Mary who had slaughtered her family with an axe and had then been condemned to death; no one had asked her ‘Why?’.

Will they come?” Deanna rasped in her scorched voice, smoke billowing from between her lips.

Did we send out the invitations?” Violette turned to the others in exasperation.

Yes,” replied Amy. “We sent out loads of them.”

But no one replied,” said Mary. Even as a ghost her voice carried so much sorrow and hurt.

Did we ask for replies?” Violette tried not to let her exasperation show, but sometimes she felt she would have loved to have been able to grab hold of the others and give them a shake. Where was their positive outlook? When life went on, and on, and on, and on.....well, it helped if you could look on the bright side, at least for some of the time.

No, I don’t think we did. Should we have?” Mary seemed to haunt in a state of constant fear, in spite of being the only one with a weapon that was not actually a part of herself. The axe in itself was an amazing item. Rarely did it get to see action but it constantly dripped blood.

Deanna and Amy both shook their heads in agreement. They had sent out hundreds of the things not even thinking of asking for a RIP, sorry, an RSVP.

What did the invitation say?” Violette was clearly getting ready to make her point.

Girls just wanna have fun!” Amy gave a lopsided grin as half of her jaw dropped out of place. She swiftly pushed it back, hoping that none of the others had noticed.

Okay, now you three listen to me. There is no guy going to turn down an invitation like that! But I do have one question. Did any of you think to include the address?”

Mary, Deanna and Amy looked from one to the other, and at an invisible sign all three ran indoors, trying to seek sanctuary from Violette’s wrath. Thunder rolled and lightning flashed as Violette put back her head and screamed.

She pursued them through the doors and lights flashed, shouts broke the silence, until the first car pulled up, followed by another and another. Guys wanting a good time who were about to get the surprise of their lives....er, deaths.
