Evolution in Reverse

I maybe am a strange upright-walking fish,

I long ago left the sea in search of my wish,

to gain knowledge from all I see,

hear, and read, my fate was up to me.

I sprouted legs to walk and a brain to think,

but lately, it seems some returned to the missing link,

unable to reason, they've returned to the primeodial ooze.

They seem only happy when they win, we lose.

They wallow in hatred, they revel in fear,

they lash out at anything they don't understand that's near.

They have lost insight into why things are.

They've don't see the advances mankind has made so far.

Scared of their shadow, they retreat to superstition,

taking us back to the Dark Age, seems to be their mission.

A fish stick of sadness as I look upon this nightmare scene,

and many can't even see, don't want to hear, what I mean!
