Impressions are not always what they seem. As the time tested saying goes: never judge a book by its cover.

Impressions

You walk forward, from the darkness shrouded corner

Your face mangled and twisted in horrible pain

I think to myself, "What can I do for her?"

Seemingly understanding, your eyes pour tears as though it's rain

You take another step, your features frightening and grim

I hold my body still, hoping things are not what they seem

Your eyes stare into mine as if to say, "I wish to speak with him"

I understand and smile, casting a friendly light that brightly gleams

You stop abruptly in your tracks and smile back

Your expression changing from pain to glee

Your eyes glow warmly as the outer shell of your body begins to crack

You raise your arms as if to beckon me

As the last of your former shell fades away

My breath is taken from my chest

Normally something so scary and grey

Instead, I feel as though I've just been blessed

Your beauty is unmatched, it glows brighter than even the sun

I feel my knees tremble beneath me

You look at me and whisper, "I think something great has begun"

Then suddenly you hug me, embracing me in a loving sea

Remember all, the first impression is not always what it seems...
