Pebbles And Shells

Down to the beach but the sand it has gone;

I’m sure it was here, was I wrong all along?

For all I can see is the waves as they lap

backwards and forwards, a coastal mishap

for my golden grains have been replaced

by pebbles and shells all over this space.

The softness, it’s brittle; the shells they do crack

and bring to my mind just all I do lack,

I pick up a pebble, into sea I do throw

and feeling defeated I turn and I go.

I’ll come back again to walk through the sand

and I'll make pretend that I'm holding your hand.
