Stigmata

She lays there, barely conscious,

does not have any recognition;

you approach her warily,

overwhelmed by superstition.

The room you’re in is icy cold,

despite the heatwave that’s outside,

the feeling of threat pulsates

but it’s one you can’t describe.

Her eyes seem kind of empty

a deep and never-ending drop;

if you were to fall inside

your descent would never stop.

She’s not herself, at least not now,

with her mind something has messed;

she’s like some kind of demon

for she has been possessed.

Look at her skin, the marks appear,

stigmata, that’s for sure;

a message making it quite clear

for her there is no cure.

Upon her back, a raven

with beak so cruelly sharp;

it’s perched there in some victory

atop a destroyed harp.

Words now appearring one by one;

"Your angel, she has flown;

for all you have in front of you

is one demonic crone.”

Exorcism – there’s a thought

but the crone just gives a laugh;

"My power is so very strong,

you’ll need a different path.

The bird has flown, this carrion crow

has ripped her all to shreds;

the only remnants of that girl,

the wretch upon the bed.”

Stigmata stays and does not fade,

you’re seized with a pain and fury.

This beast right here, she should be slain

and you are the judge and jury.

You take the blade, you do the deed,

the room is now filled with laughter.

For you are now the demon’s toy

from here on, ever after.
