What now?

There has been many away from my destiny.

Alone in the bedroom where we once used to make love, I riddled over the question, what now?
I left home, and I headed to a place that I thought was going to alleviate my shattered heart. It did the contrary and my heart shattered more. It was tough seeing her leave, it was tougher seeing her leave with another man. It was something I never thought of, and it was something that destroyed my soul. This place was the place where we met. The place where we walked for long hours and talked about the children we would have, and the grandkids we would have.
I saw myself entering a bar, and never leaving. I drank, and I drank until the barkeeper told me it was time. Somehow I woke up but I would have rather not woken up. There was a pile of old photographs on the nightstand. It was her. I pondered where she might be, but my mind only thought of the man she left with. I could not understand. We had everything, and we were going to have more. But it was the end of something truly beautiful. My memories of our time together were now drowning in liquor, and I was doing nothing to save them from drowning. It was for the best… I supposed.
Now, I’m in a bed surrounded by men and women dressed in white trying to save me from dying, and I still riddle over the question, what now?
