Into superstition

twisted and caught,

by the belief of power

in these locks .

Eluding vanity' s

number one contender ,

fear of attraction

being dismembered .

Flowing black

sculpting your features ,

a conceded boast

and attention seeker .

Could slay a lion

with my bare hands,

Could defeat an army

and still I'll stand.

Never thought of it leaving

never thought I'd care,

if age deprived me

of my hair.

Age isn't the answer

of when it will come ,

for many have lost it

very young.

When cancer strikes

and chemo burns ,

a hundred million follicles

are waiting their turn.

When a mysterious disease

of bizarre vista,

an autoimmune disorder

called Alopecia.

Without a choice

taken from sight ,

without notice

or a warning sign .

Suffering a loss

but superstition is weak ,

the hair on your head

isn't made of strength .

It's all in the heart

all in the mind ,

devouring the dark

that fades in light.

Could still slay a lion

with your bare hands ,

Could capture the world

and tall you'll stand.

Life is a resource

that shouldn't waste away ,

for you are still the same

at the end of each day.

Long gone

and now taken for granted,

long loved

and now granted the taken.

Samson's hair was mistaken..
