A A A

There's no way to deny

the color of his eyes ,

cloning identical

to the color of mine.

Just a speedy glance

anyone could see ,

that we created a clone

another version of me.

I see a boy hiding

behind a tree ,

from a school bus

with empty seats.

I see his dad taking him to school

on his very first day ,

leaving him in the classroom

crying as I walk away.

With a pen I see him changing

every F to an A ,

and me being disappointed

when he repeats sixth grade.

Depressed from all the letters

about daydreaming in his class ,

and understanding that it's a phase

that he will quickly pass.

I see him begging me

to buy him his first car ,

when he turns sixteen

he'll burn the highway like a star.

On attending his senior prom

I know he will debate ,

in fear of going alone

and to ask her to be his date.

He will only dance

to the slower songs,

walking in a circle

with her wrapped tight in his arms.

He'll drive home disappointed

that he was afraid to make a move ,

and lift his head when I tell him

that he wont have anything to lose.

He'll worry me to death

by the time that he's eighteen,

I'll correct him over and over

until he can't wait to leave.

When he moves out

he'll always think of me ,

and the lessons that he's learned

about the man that he should be. There's no way to deny

the color of his eyes

cloning identical

to the color of mine ..
