55 days,

We stood our own,

Against the foreign hoard.

Brothers we are now,

Soldiers of all nations.

European, American and Japanese.

We are one.

Though they took the walls,

We had but to swat them off.

55 days in that yellow hell,

Far away from home.

They called them Boxers,

Though nothing of the gentlemanly sport did they carry.

How we wished to for it to end,

For we were short in shot,

But blade still sharp,

We fought on and on.

Then on sweet August 14th,

Relief did come.

By days end 15th,

Control we had again.

Through 55 days,

Of endless nights,

We’ve lived,

We’ve died,

We won.
