Illustrations And Artwork.

When it comes to picking a cover or other illustrations for your work, sites that provide CCO images are fantastic. This means that you can use them as they are, edit them, make of them whatever you will, without having to credit the original artist/photographer. And you do not have to worry about copyright.

However there is one point that you should always bear in mind. As much as you are free to use the image, so is anybody else. You cannot claim copyright over somebody else’s work, or complain about somebody else using the same image.

If exclusivity is important to you, you will either have to buy or come to an agreement with an artist/photographer over an image that is not CCO, or you will have to make your own exclusive image. It really is as simple, or as complicated, as that.

Personally, I love the CCO images and would never take offence to somebody making use of something that they have just as much right to use as I do.
