“Why Do I Write?”

Do I write to right my wrongs? Or to elevate me to a king -- to move different from these pawns? Write an S with two slashes -- to entertain you through these songs? Do I write because it’s all I have left? Or do I write to leave a legacy – to proceed after death? Do I write because I want to or do I write because I have to? Do I write because I’m going nuts -- like some cashews? Do I write to enlight and ignite my insight? Do I write to inform and bring the news? Do I write only if I’m in the mood? Do I write because I’m hungry and for the right price I will write for food? Why do I write? You see “y” is a crooked letter. In the older days they would write with the tip of the feather, Even before then, they were clever with this writing endeavor, Whatever the weather, If the rain comes, the dirt becomes mud -- so we could write better. With the Egyptians -- using hieroglyphics, Brave in the cave, holding a light to write in it. Stories told – it was written -- they were vivid. Do I write for my life -- so I can tell you that I lived it? Do I write to leave a mark and imprint it? In a special place in time -- do I write just for squiggly lines? Which intertwine and rhyme, communicating with no noise like mimes That’ll blow your mind at the same time? Do I write to vent -- or for a specific topic? Do I write to envision the Pacific beaches by the tropics? Fiction or faction, fairy tale, murder mystery, action, autobiographic, Comics and classics, limerick or haiku, Rap, rhythm and poetry -- this is what I ride to. My story must be told -- writer’s block I despise you. Writer-writer, bring me a Brazilian beauty, maybe 5’2, Distract me from this world and how we’re being lied to, Paper and the pen, you are my boo. Why do I write? This world ain’t right -- I did what’s right, and got left. It’s all I have left, I write to right my wrongs, It’s what I put in these songs, I write so I can tell my history, If I don’t write, then my story -- of Mr.E will be a mystery. So I write to write my history, So I write to right my history.
