Esme’s Answer

Esme looked out of her window and the sight that met her eyes made her heart sink. Yet another day of rain-clouds with not a glimpse of the sun. Her holiday was fast approaching it’s end.

Five days stuck indoors, no sight-seeing at all. And wasn’t the whole point of the break to give her a chance to walk along the beach and breathe in the sea air. The sky this morning was definitely saying ‘no way’.

Enough, she decided. Esme would take the bus in to town and make some purchases. Then she’d bring them back and set to work. Two days to go and she was not going to waste one more minute than she had to.

It didn’t take long to get to the town, and almost all of her requirements were available in the one place. She just needed to buy an umbrella.

Back at the house she set to work with her paint and her paint brushes. The sky could look as it chose but the sky above her head would now be blue with white clouds instead of grey.

Defiantly, Esme stepped outside and oblivious to the rain, made her way to the beach.
