My pain I will hush; I’ll try not to fail,

The hurt in my face I’ll hide with my veil.

Blackened by scorn; I can’t let it go,

If I put a fake smile will it still show?

Perhaps, there’s a way I really do hope,

Writing of this is how I will cope.

Because you don’t care yet I still do,

Why do I care so much about you?

I gave you my heart; I gave you my all,

I gave you my words and you watch as I fall.

But you’re older than me; you should know better,

I say as I dry tears with my sweater.

Because I am cold; there’s no warmth in the world,

That can blanket my heart like when I was your girl.
