Like a snowflake that flies

through the stale-freezing air

at the peak of eclipse -

or a touch that remembers

every circle and curve

of your love’s fingerprints.

Like a flock of blue birds,

caged for longer than life,

after they are enchained -

or a red rose that blooms,

her thorns sharp as a knife,

after April’s first rain.

Like a child on the playground,

who forgets all his tears

in his mother’s embrace -

or the sun’s favorite girl,

with the red freckled cheeks,

after rays kiss her face.

Like a string of white pearls

for a little black dress

with a matching design -

or a warrior knight,

always willing to fight,

as they scream to resign.

Like a spaceship that lands

on the warm earthen ground

after flying to Mars -

and the captain of space,

as he turns his last page,

leaves behind memoirs.

Like a cold northern wind,

chasing far all the fears,

haunting you like a phantom -

after falling in love,

this is how a good heart

sings its favorite anthem.
