Now playing, the second civil war.

Red versus blue, both looking to score

insult damage, a heart-felt belief, no bullets are fired,

but knee-deep in blood and anger, the nation is mired.

Self-appointed avengers trade insults,

trying to gain the upper hand, and the results

speak for themselves, chaos, anger, and ill-will

dominate, honest debate an impossible hill

to climb, with each side entrenched, firing words as weapons,

surrounded by troops of like-minded ilk, each insult a rerun

of other's thoughts, magnified in social media's glare,

of knee-jerk reaction not tethered to fair.

Neither side gains any territory on this battleground of belief,

meanwhile, our good nation in the cross hairs will come to grief.

Old-fashioned realities, moralities, fought on a new battlefield,

electronic, moronic, tectonic, our wounds will never be healed.
