Pas de Deux

Such a fascinating dance we partake
Fulfilling the lifelong promise we made
Sometimes spinning around in rapid steps
Sometimes slowing down to catch a breath

When sharp words are exchanged, the balance is thrown
Causing partners to turn away and dance alone
Until one bows with outstretched hand to the other
Starting gradually with a sway as bonds recover

Changing seasons bring new steps to learn
A heart of patience allows perfection with each turn
For every pirouette and leap, practice is required
Trusting the other’s strength to leap even higher

At times, familiar steps become monotonous
And life’s music player starts collecting dust
A new invigorating rhythm must ensue
To keep the dance alive, the passion in bloom

As the years pass by, the dance begins to slow
Only gently rocking, the love between still grows
Until the time comes when partners sits down to rest
Smiling eyes hold each other feeling so very blessed
