It’s quiet in the forest . . .

When the moonlight spills

It’s creepy in the wood . . .

When the daylight rises

Flowing, graceful, guiding limbs

Slender, curving, dancing bodies

Helping hands, frozen

Tangled, knotted, weaving branches

Twisting, winding, snaking trunks

Wood serpents, petrified

The leaves crunch . . .

As I pass through the forest

The foliage rustles . . .

As a creature stalks me in the wood

Day and night . . .

As different as night and day

A forest and a wood . . .

As different as the imagination that enters

Who enters?  Who leaves?

Is it a tale for the folks to weave?

Or will it be told by the creature I see lurking in the wood?
