TOC, TOC, TOC, TOC

the boy heard the knock.

His eyes opened widely

his face seemed red as a cherry

his forehead was sweating rivers of water.

He knew she was coming!

She, the one that he always dreamed of...

She, the beauty in black that had kissed him twice...

She was finally here for their last encounter...

and he smiled...one last time...

What a great poem. The author clearly illustrates the anticipation and desire the boy is feeling.

It is a great poem. The author shows the nervous and desire of the boy using simile, hyperbole, and imagery.

It is a poem of contrast, where there are life ("face...red as cherry") and death ("beauty in black"); fear ("eyes opened wide") and excitement ("forehead...sweating rivers..."); imagination ("he always dreamt of") and reality ("she was finally here"); temporality ("twice", "last time") and eternity ("he smiled"). Last smile, last encounter, last time mean now and here but also then and there; earth and heaven. Life after life! Love it!

It is an interesting poem, full of symbolisms. Is the SHE that is mentioned a girl?
