I took to task;

Befriending Time

It is not a task to take lightly,

He’s always busy with few whiles to unwind.

I courted him politely;

Serving tea and some cake

My friend, Hare, came to join us,

The evening was pleasant, make no mistake.

I came to know him well;

Time, the nice chap

It was a beautiful bloom of a friendship,

One deserving a round of clap.

It came to an end;

My friendship with Time

Sadly, in the mad month of March,

At a concert for the Queen where I sang and we dined.

“He’s murdering the time!”

A bawl by the Queen

So Time and I had a falling out,

He froze my teatime scene.

It’s always six o’clock now;

The time of the day

I make merry at the table with Hare and Dormouse,

Counting the seconds that never tick away.

It is too slow;

This watch of mine

Or perhaps it’s too fast,

In telling the time.

He doesn’t like to be told;

Time and his temperament

It was the final mistake I made,

Our bond dissolved in permanent.

It had been a beauty;

My friendship with Time

Now I’m caught in the madness,

Of tea with my friends in a homey setting of mine.

I don’t know where he’s gone;

Time, the nice chap

Somewhere where I will never meet him again,

How I wish I could have his ear to entice a time for a nap.
