Ms. S Says to Me

In a poem you’ve heard before,

the silence is threatening an early night—

or at least provoking insomnia.

I control the noise that soothes.

Cover bands, podcasts, a headache—

but a stutter from below,

I believe in spirts, ghosts, angels, dragons,

and I pray for the first time in years.
