A description of a place where battered women are safe now. Protected by those who run it. The sadness and pain of those who suffered at the hands of their abusers. This was me.

Where the Walls Cry

There is a place where all pain is hidden
Visions of sadness and tears flow
No one knows the others story
But images and scars remain

A refuge, a place to feel safe
Guided by those who aid in your protection
Frightened, lost souls, broken by those who battered
Learning how to fight back for themselves and children

Within this shelter you pretend you are okay
While inside you are torn apart and empty
A temporary home to find your way
To learn how to feel whole again

You hide to be alone , to find some peace
To gather your thoughts and fall asleep
Come the morn, sentiments denied
I know this place where walls will always cry
