Suffering is romantic to the artists and the intellectuals who have never tasted real hunger. Their visions and ideas thrive on it, and some even trade daily comforts just to experience pain. The artist paints a picture of misery from the sanctity of their own home, while the intellectual weaves a web in their minds that would entrap all of the world’s problems. They purposely push comfort away, and in their foolishness destroy all chances of a happy life for the sake of higher art. As they both linger at their desks to create, choosing sadness and melancholy over comfort, a homeless man freezes to death in a cardboard box outside, never once having the luxury of choice.
