My Hike

When the world made me feel inadequate,

All these expectations I have never met,

I took a breath.

Told myself to keep on walking,

That my legs can survive another hill.

When goals and duties fell on top of me,

And gave me doubts and fears that refused to leave,

I took a breath.

Quenched my thirst with pure water,

Before administering to my cuts.

It astounds me that I am still standing!

Even with these harsh conditions hitting me.

I thought I’d die.

But God wouldn’t let me fall down

Because He’s helping me conquer these hills.

Though my legs are sore and muscles straining,

My lungs are full and my heart has blood pumping.

I’m still breathing.
