She sat by the river as the moon rose over the mountains

The world has been cruel to me

Her words poured into the moving water like honey on a hot summer's day

It has taken the ones I love; used my body as a cemetery -
a resting place for what was once hope.  It has taken from
me what I can never replace.

The moon didn't say much that night.  She instructed the river to provide comfort,
the crickets to provide company, the trees to provide deep breathes. She hoped
this would be enough to show her precious child that through the darkest of nights,
she would never be alone.
