"Gasmask man"

In the 2000's in a small Louisiana town a family had left there two daughters home alone for a night as the parents went up to check on there sick grandparents. The two daughters were both older one was sixteen and the other twelve.
So naturally they were old enough to stay home alone. The sixteen year old was in her bedroom and the twelve year old was in the kitchen playing when a knock on the door came. The little girl opened the door to a man wearing a plaid shirt with green and violet stripes. He told her he was here to check the gas. So the  girl said "do what you need." And let him in.
He disappeared upstairs. The sixteen year old girl came downstairs and asked who was at the door? The sister told her. The older sister got scared and said "the gas lines are outside." And she got a stroke of genius as a random neighbor walked by the house outside. The sister immediately yelled to the neighbor "Hey dad? I didn't think you'd be home so soon but the gas man is here and wants to talk." The neighbor looked confused. And all of a sudden the man darted out of the front door and left the home.
The sisters locked the door. A few weeks later in the same neighborhood a thirteen year old girl suddenly went missing.!the police came to the family's house. The girls told there parents about the man and agreed to go over and talk to the police and family.
The girls told the police everything that happened and what he man had looked like. They agreed that it sounds like the same person for sure just this girl wasn't so lucky. After a few weeks the man was found and arrested. As for the thirteen year old girl she looked like she was beaten and burned alive. A day doesn't go bye when the sisters don't think that they were so close to also suffering the exact same fate.
