Verse:

I try to write jazz but comes out rock and roll.
The voice of the poets falls well short of my goal.
Try to write profound prose about say, the generation gap,
want to be the new Dylan but more like Spinal Tap.

Pre-Chorus:

Expression turns to depression,
words fail me is my sad confession.

Verse:

Just my style I guess, I'm only what I am.
Striking out when I'm aiming for grand slam.
Aiming for inspiration, but I missed it again,
A few feet short, landing ramp, I just can't win.

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Chorus:

Sometimes wish I was, but clearly I am not.
A painting with words is something I ain't got.
Strictly A to B, I'm what I have to be
Not mind-expanding profound like LSD.

Verse:

Aim for Freud but sound like Shecky Green.
Probably don't even know who I mean.
An old comedian who probably doesn't fit,
See, I've done it again, wrote meaningless shit!

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

END
