Looking For A Friend
Should I have expected it?
He grew up pretty fast,
and soon I found myself
being consigned to the past.
I could never compete
with the toys he does now use,
all the technologic beeping,
that my stuffing does confuse.
He does not even look at me
for the screen now is his friend.
I guess that for this teddy
the friendship’s at an end.
I need to find another who
will fall in love with me;
who can still remember how
imagination sets us free.
We’ll go on these adventures,
and I’ll always lend an ear,
when the troubles bubble up
that no one wants to hear.
So if it’s loyalty, you’re after,
you’ll find I’m hard to beat;
pick me as your ‘ever’ friend
and make my life complete.
