Rinse and Repeat

I received a text on my birthday; it’s been four years; what do you want? You said you felt guilty about things; how will telling me this change anything? You disrespected every part of me; again I do not care.

It has been some months and we meet again. A former co- worker who used manipulation and scheming to advance herself. I believe this course of action will come back to bite you; again and again.

You emailed me, wanting to say hello and testing the waters. I responded politely; but you decided to use a darker tone to your language. How dare you! - pushing me away once again.

After many years we meet again. You smile and introduce me to your new girl. She seems lovely and we exchange the rehearsed niceties of adult conversation. You ask about him; as if your care has ever been consistent. Once again I tell you I cannot speak for him; but you know the real answer.
