I kissed the ground I walked on

when the subtle rain drenched my flesh in the warm tears of angelic skies

I wanted nothing but the best for mother, from leaf to sea

for she blessed the day with morning light and dew

the waves of clouds that crashed the world as cycles do

with strikes of electrical fire and light that burn holes in dirt and eyes

make us watch as flares spread among the green, fade to brown

and crumble to the crust, liquid life an attempt to conquer death

destruction in the hands of God, sacrifice made for our sake

Yet pain brings pleasure, time and patience their guide

as the cycle begins again and the skies cry from the atmosphere

bringing life as the burning sun drove away the dark

while the morning birds sang sweetly among the dead evergreens

the animals crawled back to what remained

only to turn around, to leave once more

till life, as it was, grew even stronger, the smell of honeydew and willow leaves

But until then, I walk among the trees and kiss the ground with my feet

so all of life can come back to me
