Time and Distance

My sister and I are polar opposites. I am reserved; she is animated. I use a soft tone and she is “the life of the party”. We chose different paths in our lives and live on different continents of the world. This physical distance is symbolic of our emotional distance. She is extroverted and speaks her thoughts with no observable filter. I tend to analyze each and every word. I am a speech therapist; it is my skill set.

We each have children. My boy is grown and her daughter is a teen. They adore one another and because of the age disparity my son has become a big brother of sorts to her daughter. This summer we will meet again. My sister will be her  loud and comical  self and I will usedo my  best to enjoy her as she is.East will meet West again. I hope that the distance between us will be lessened and perhaps we will be able to meet somewhere in the middle.
