The tree has cuts all over but yet still stands

I've seen the tree get hit with a hammer

A couple buldges here and there

But yet the tree still stands

I've watched as the outer layers of the tree rot

But yet the tree still stands

I take the hammer and try myself

To put it out of it's misery

For every slam a couple leafs fall,

I ask myself "How could something as damaged as this create and support life?"

As i hit it one last time, a large portion of wood and splinters detach

But yet the tree still stands

The winter comes and what once was alive withers away

but yet the tree still stands

One day a loud crash was heard

To the tree it lured

It tipped to the side as if to fall

but yet the tree still stands

The scarred and damaged tree had another smaller and healthier tree that had grown beside it

And one day a lumberjack came in search of fine timber

He spotted the healthy tree and took out his axe

A gust of wind swept over the land

And on the lumberjack the tree at last fell.

The small and healthy tree continued to grow

thanks to the old one
