More Details
Status: Finished  |  Genre: Poetry  |  House: Booksie Classic

This is not a wholly original piece (especially the latter half and the actual title). It started off as an original poem and morphed into a piece inspired by Split Enz’s Ghost Girl. Certain lines
have been borrowed from said song and a little from Poor Boy, also by the Enz.

Hair dyed by fire’s light

A beauty unmatched

Yet no smile.

The colours dance upon your face

A vivid cascade

Though no emotion shines through.

Skin of silk

No warmth does pass.

Are you even human?

The mind it ticks and tocks

Screaming to know

Why can’t it ever be?

What transcendent purpose?

Why live?

Fire’s light dies

And now with moon stained hair

You turn and dance

Gliding fro and to

In stance hypnotic.

A mystery

Fated to fade.

Not built to last.

And what is it you reveal in dark secrets whispered?

A fatal finality

Of attraction?

Love

It was love!

Now doomed to haunt

Never to feel.

Oh, what can a poor girl do?

So weep ghost Girl

Sequinned beads.

Roll them down your cheeks

The only thing that will kiss them now.

Oh weep ghost Girl.
