????????????

There was no way for her to get out. It was snowing like crazy outside and her dad wouldn't stop drinking. She thought that it would be wrong if she left him at home but she couldn't take him with her. She thought that if she left him at home he would most likely drink himself to death. Her anxiety levels were raising because of the mental debate she was having with herself. Going out was something she rarely got to do because she was always working to take care of herself, her little brother Jataevon, and to keep the water and the electricity on. Her dad was a grown man so he could take care of himself she decided. I hope so, she thought.

So, she took three deep breaths and walked downstairs.

I'm going out dad! she yelled, grabbing her keys.

Where Keriyah? he yelled back.

With my friends! she yelled getting annoyed at all his questions. He didn't ask questions when she paid the bills.

You don't have friends! he said now pissing her off.

Yes I do! she yelled walking to the door.

You're not going anywhere, he said grabbing her arm. She could smell the liquor on his breath. He was beyond drunk at ten o'clock at night.

You have to quiet down Jataevon is sleeping! she whispered to her dad.

When Keriyah realized he had no intentions of stopping she was fed up so she went upstairs, got all the suitcases and bags, and she started packing her and Jataevon's things. After she went to Jataevon's room or wake him up.

Wake up Tae, she said shaking him to wake him up, wake up we're leaving here.

Then she went back downstairs. The first thing she saw was her dad downstairs at the table shooting up heroine. She didn't even stop him this time. She walked right passed him, started taking things out the cabinets, and picking them up.

Eventually, Jataevon came downstairs and took the things to the car his sister had packed. Keriyah collected her hidden stash of money and gave it to Jataevon. She walked around the house looking at all the old pictures, taking some with her as she walked. Then she began to look around and think what it was like when her mom was alive. She came across an old photo of her,her mom, her dad, and Jataevon smiling and enjoying themselves at the beach.

Finally, she went downstairs and sat at the table and watched her dad. She sat there for five minutes.

Dad we're leaving, she announced.

When she got up and began to walk to the door she heard the table flip. She began to run quickly to get out the house but she was not running fast enough. He caught her, slapped her, and began to hit her hard over and over again. She struggled to get away but it didn't work.

After thirty minutes, Jataevon came check on her and saw his dad beating her. He helped her to the car. Keriyah limped her way to her car and when Jataevon started driving away from the house Keriyah never looked back. She cried the whole way to her new life but her and Jataevon was finally free.
