Sunglow

spawn awakes,

he cries

away.

The arms

hold tight ,

I am the guardian

of a younger life.

His image

innocent and free,

a past picture

of the old me .

The rain still falls upon

a day so bright ,

through dawn

and It's embarking light.

I hold

the roof above his head ,

I labor to ensure

his hunger will be fed.

He is himself

he is me ,

he is what has become

of the love that's still to be.

Sunglow

through the night ,

color of hope

with no end in sight.

Deep fear

questioning ,

my ability

to provide relief.

Will I be

good enough,

when the havoc

wrecks enough?

Will he look to me

through hurt ,

when life is corrupted

by the earth ?

Sunglow

spawn awakes,

he cries

away.

The arms

hold tight ,

I am the guardian

of a younger life.
