A seed arced through the air
from the careful hand of the Sower.
Calloused palms, jagged gaping scars...
Infinite wisdom judging direction.
It landed, a crevice available,
providing a new home.

A man knocked tirelessly
on a door shut to Him,
not by choice, but by ignorance.
Tap, tap, a quiet plea.
Endless patience measuring time.
The handle turned from the other side
- it had not been locked -
and a new resident stepped inside.

A climber dangled off a precarious ledge,
studying the rocks below,
oblivious to the outstretched hand above.
Unceasing strength calculating distance.
A head tilt up, hope sparks anew.
A hand clasp, a firm tug,
new companions climb side - by - side.

Soil, tougher than it should be,
rocky and uncertain
of growing life.

An argument, one-sided,
angry and unyielding
to forgiveness.

A tense friendship, tested by obstacles,
quavering and wobbling
On age-old promises.

Withering of new life,
a seed which bears no fruit.
Now I see,
The quicker the growth,
The more painful the death.

Casting out of a new perspective,
a hand knocks again.
Now I hear,
The louder the welcome,
The more heart-wrenching the rejection.

Refusal of assistance,
a broken partnership.
And now I know,
The higher you climb,
The harder the fall.
