I remember the warmth of your hand in mine,

and the grass, pressed against our backs.

I remember the smell of freshly cut grass,

and that of our little lakeside retreat.

I remember the burning, brilliant gold of the sun,

and how it burned our eyes and set fire to our skin.

I remember when you’d be the little voice in my ear,

and you always told me to stay when it was time to leave.

I remember the indescribable feeling of being totally whole,

and of being content with life in a single instant.

I remember my heart and my mind settling in,

and staying there forever

I remember laying with you and watching the sky,

and those sempiternal sunsets.
