Innocent Smile

You see the side of me that no one does or ever will,

Open your windows until you turn shrill,

Drink that beer, pop those pills,

A painful idea of heartbreak that kills.

Slam the door shut as you leave,

You forgot your cigarettes and keys,

You’re nothing but a gold-digger,

Mining in the deepest parts of my heart.

Of this sick little game,

You’ve arranged the rules,

You thought you’d be the winner,

But instead you’ve been sent back to the start.

Going around like a homie-hopper,

Breaking hearts, I’ll break your hands,

I’ll show you exactly where I stand.

No more will you paralyze my chest,

Fun and games with me aren’t quite the best,

I’ll tear you down like a game of Jenga,

Pulling you so far under you can’t breathe.

Regretting making me feel so lonely and pitiful,

After all, I only told you you were beautiful,

You speak as though I’m not good enough for your cheating mind,

I’d be fascinated if you elaborated.

Tell me I’m not everything you need,

Intellect a beauty, jealousy a sin,

I’ll never let you bring me down again,

A mind so closed, a heart so open,

So, of my thoughts, here’s my token.

Take it with anger, take it with gratitude,

Either way, don’t let show that useless, selfish attitude,

Starting with you, a life so auspicious,

But you’re not a tad bit proficious,

As I have such equanimity,

You don’t have a single loving quality,

Vicious and uncaring,

With that innocent smile you’re wearing.
