Forgotten Melodies

Why do I crave a touch in the dark

A caress in the vastness of night

Under my blankets

I miss being held

Being known

Being loved

Though my bed is small it aches for company

Yet is met with only me

Night upon night

My thoughts poor out like an impressionists melody

A beautiful stream of dissonant consciousness

Laying here alone

I wish I could hold someone close

Whisper my melody to them in the night

as they whisper their’s to me

A counterpoint of tired and contented admiration and belonging

My melody has intertwined with many others

It has not met its resolution

And so I long for a touch in the dark
