From the beginning

We found safety joined together

But bondage came about

When rulers came to Clans

Sense that day

The very strong have formed their Casts

And the divisions of the populace

Were sifted like the sands.

Be it governments or religions

That makes no difference

The need to belong

Is a part of who we are

So we do not walk away

The majority choose to stay

Even when the choices

Of the leaders go too far.

Some might say

We are "Children of the Corn"

Held hostage

By the emotions that we share.

Unwilling to walk away

From the bonds of yesterday

Even when our leader

Blows smoke into the air.
