Watcher in the dark.

Thine face hooded

And body robed.

Eyes shining through

Piercing cold.

Whisper wisdom in their ear

But are you far

Or be you near.

Hardly seen

And barely heard.

Take what you will

Of words absurd.

From darkest reach

They come for thee.

To whisper soft

Of things to be.

See not the watchers in the dark

Do not take this as a lark.

Be still now and not fear

Things for now

Shall be clear.

Though heed these word

For the fading of the light shall come

And all along that twilight realm

They all stand

In hooded helm.

I pursued them once

To no avail

But now inside my head

They hail.

So when the voices call hark

Just be still

For it’s the watchers in the dark.
