Exit Stage Right

Like Shakespeare wrote “I often feel like an actor upon a stage.” I have a memorized script and posture that can match the story I find myself in. Like a chameleon, altering my voice and facial expressions to match the roles that have been assigned to me.

As a daughter I use a softer and compliant tone. As a teacher, a direct and slower rate of speech appears to be effective..  As a mother I find my expressions are ever changing; trying to use a supportive tone in my words. As a friend, I am honest and good humored. Absorbing the woes of others and providing solutions to the frustrations shared. As a wife, I had desperately tried to be perfect; I hated the pressure I had put on myself and others had placed upon me. It was my least favorite role.

Now I do as I wish. Spending time with myself; which is a quiet relief. No director to follow, no scripts to memorize and  no audience to impress.
