read and understand

In a darkened room, surrounded by silence The mental torment and emotional violence Lying awake, seething with pain The anger and hatred from which we abstain

Rushes in like a jet black tide And latches to feelings so hidden inside Wrenching us sideways, our bodies and mind For answers and reasons we're not going to find

Unwilling to change, unable to be You just be you and I will be me Two sides of a coin that never should meet One comes out on top, and one in defeat

No schedule to keep, no unwritten rules To control it is something thought only by fools The fears and desires that play on unseen That shift from a person to something obscene

The lifelong struggle of those such as me People will tell us to just let it be But what those people never will know Is it's never as easy to just let it go

It defines who we are and it captures the soul It breaks us inside and it swallows us whole Buried beneath what we cannot decide Many nights in the dark that we've laid there and cried

In a darkened room, surrounded by silence The mental torment and emotional violence Lying awake, seething with pain From the anger and hatred from which we abstain
