So hard to face, harder to nod in time

Because there is no messenger to tell

The poor, the blind, the foolish waiting prime

That joy and pain are brothers, dear to hell.

The truth of joy is marked by shroud so thick

Such ecstasy dispels worry and makes

The death blow seem worth it, maybe less quick,

Pushing the soul forward in steps it takes,

The lie of pain only comes from the words

Of folk who seek escape in form of flight.

Lessons, healing lost to those heady birds

Reserved for souls who stand willing to fight

But I concede that hell and life are one

The brothers’ dearness then is not undone
