I am with the Wind and the Clouds

There are many skies,
each one extraordinarily different
and I,
encompass them all.

I am capable of carnage
with a temperament
like hurricanes on a war path.
When there are clouds,
cumbersome is the weight on my back.
I let go, and it pours.
I am the impertinent wind
to an undisturbed landscape.
But at my core;
the eye of this storm, I am cordial.

It can’t rain forever!
I am dusk
patiently waiting for my goodnight kiss.
I am dawn
rising only to greet you.
My skin is brisk ocean waters
reaching to relieve
scorched bodies along the shore.
I am a warm, afternoon sky
and chilled tea on lawn tables in late July.

Drifting moods
are rapid in their transition,
like battered lands
meeting the eye of my hurricane.
But I am also calm like still, empty beaches
hours before dawn.
I am endlessly changing
with the clouds
and the wind.
