Pretzel Logic – Trust
Trust,
a bit like the outer crust,
crisp and sound,
it keeps you
wanting
them around.
You believe
the words they say
you, well they
would not
betray.
No, they care,
their word is true;
never would they
harm you.
But kind of like
that pretzel crust,
trust is fragile,
turns to dust.
That pretzel twist
and there’s a secret
come to light,
why did they keep it?
Now you know,
that trust is shattered;
for it’s so clear
you never mattered.
False spoken words,
lies,
untruths,
have robbed you
of self-worth.
Suspicions now
abound,
not just of those
but all around.
A pretzel twist
but this one’s slow,
it takes so long
for trust to grow.
Will you ever
bury
all those doubts.
Will you give someone else
a chance?
Always lingering,
that chance of lies,
you don’t want
another bad surprise.
But someone
soon
you feel is true,
that they will never
lie to you.
Pretzel logic;
trust – with friendship is a must,
deception – turns that to mere dust
in future – will you dare to trust?

Another great piece of pretzel logic, Hully! You nailed it! After reading your last short story and being transported back to high school, this piece perfectly fits into that same time frame too.
I'm much more careful as an adult who I trust and what I trust certain people with. I'd rather a small circle of true friends than a crowd of sycophants and back-stabbers who are only friendly to your face.
I'd say you're as good of a judge of character as any of us, Hully. None of us get it right all the time and we have to pick who we open up to with what, but you're not a steel vault with no way in; you are friendly and also open enough on first meaning that you're neither prickly or combative.

Thank you, Jeff. I'm not one to trust many, too often I've been tricked by deceivers. And even now, I am clearly no good judge of character. It takes time but I have found a couple of people on Booksie that I can think of as friends.
There will be another four or five of these posting in the next few days.
Brilliant work, Hully... creativity at its finest!

Excellent, Hull, but I hope this isn't about me?

Nope, not at all, Mike. You, I do trust.
